Guiding Principle One
Teacher knows the subject knowledge that he or she teaches.

1.1 Knows subject content
Attached are my certificates to illustrated my compentency in the subject matter.
Action Plan

1.2 Is able to relate concepts to other subjects
The lesson below reflects a 5 E's lesson plan on simple harmonic motion. In this lesson, I endeavour to relate this concept to biology (rhythmic motion of the heart). Additionally, the nature of simple harmonic motion is heavily linked to mathematics.
1.3 Knows and understands how the subject is structured in the curriculum
A Timeline Reflecting the Sequence I Employed in Teaching the CAPE Unit one Syllabus
Forces
SI units
motion in 2-dimension
Projectile Motion
Impulse and momentum
Circular Motion
Dimension Analysis
Motion is 1 - dimension
(Kinematics)
The timeline above outlines the sequence I used to teach the CAPE Unit One syllabus. It also shows one modification I made: I taught the topic of forces earlier than it appears in the syllabus, instead of after circular motion. I chose to do this because I wanted to emphasize how forces affect objects; specifically, when a force is applied, it causes an object to move. This approach allows me to seamlessly incorporate concepts from other topics.
1.4 Is able to relate subject to national development goals
The goal identified in the image falls under a broader goal- Quality Education

Relating the lesson to the cultural experiences of my students
My responsibilities during the academic year
Unit and Assessment Plan
The documents provided below were not authored by me; however, they served as valuable resources in developing the lesson plans for teaching and learning for the students in my charge.

Laboratory Manual and Practice Questions
The practice question attached reflects various levels of difficulty, and to improve my students, ability to problem solving skills
Video Lecture
Below are snippets of video lectures created for third and sixth form students

This video was created for third form students to help them appreciate devices used to measure time

This video was the first video in a series of videos on the method of heat transfer
Reflection
Guiding Principle One underscores my solid understanding of my subject discipline and my ability to effectively communicate that knowledge through engaging content, assessments, and learning resources. I am dedicated to providing students with an exceptional teaching and learning experience.
Through my qualifications, I have gained valuable insights into my teaching practices, which have empowered me to develop impactful lesson plans and a well-structured sequence for instruction.
I find this principle to be incredibly enriching as I strive to align assessments and resources with the diverse cultural backgrounds of my students. I am committed to enhancing my resources and ensuring they are readily available for students to maximize their learning potential.
